Green Oleo expands its range of HALAL products, a worldwide certification attesting the conformity of products to the koranic doctrine.

The company consolidates its competitive position in the cosmetics and personal care market with high quality, safe and ethical standards.

Press Release

Cremona (CR), 6 December 2023 – GREEN OLEO S.p.A. (the “Company” or “GREEN OLEO”) – one of the leading European producers of fine oleochemicals from renewable sources, announces that it has expanded the range of its Halal-certified products. This certification, which is recognized worldwide, attests to a sustainable and rigorous product offer in respecting the different preferences and needs of consumers, consistent with their cultural and religious traditions.

Halal certification attests to the products’ compliance with Koranic doctrine and therefore the absence of ingredients prohibited by it. This choice is due to Green Oleo’s desire to offer a wide range of products that meet the ethical and lifestyle needs of its customers, incorporating the principles of inclusion and diversity strongly recognized in the cosmetics industry. At the same time, the decision to become certified represents Green Oleo’s commitment to produce according to high quality, safe and ethical standards for the cosmetics market.

The expansion of the range of Halal certified products is part of Green Oleo’s growth strategy aimed at enriching its product range with certifications designed to broaden the audience of potential customers and to continue guaranteeing the excellence of its service to the end consumer. Green Oleo thus confirms its focus and attention to the quality of its products and the needs of its customers.

Beatrice Buzzella, President and CEO, commented: “The expansion of the Halal-certified product range represents a consolidation of Green Oleo’s competitive position in the cosmetics market, in line with the growth strategy announced at the IPO. The new offer includes cosmetics and personal care products, including olein with a very high oleic content, known as Greenolene 6936 and olive based olein known as Greenolene 6928. This latest approval is a further confirmation of the centrality of olive derivatives within the Cosmetics project. This initiative will positively influence the development of our business in geographic areas where Green Oleo’s presence is currently less significant.”

About GREEN OLEO

GREEN OLEO S.p.A. is one of the leading European producers of fine oleochemicals from renewable sources. Based in Cremona, Italy, the company was acquired by the Buzzella family in 2012, when it was merged with a business unit historically active, since 1925, in oleochemical production and previously owned by Croda Cremona S.r.l.
The Company uses locally sourced raw materials, such as by-products from food industry processing (acid oils mainly from olive and animal fat), which are subjected to internal chemical processes such as splitting, distillation, separation, fractionation and hydrogenation, to obtain a variety of oleochemical products such as fatty acids distilled to different matrices depending on the starting fat, stearic acids (stearines), oleic acid, glycerins, fatty acid derivatives (soaps), esters. The Company operates in the Cremona plant, in an area of 64,000 square metres (of which about 20,000 square metres are covered) where 75 resources are employed, with an annual production capacity of 65,000 tonnes, of which 50,000 tonnes of fatty acids and glycerines and 15,000 tonnes of esters. The company’s customers are industrial companies operating in multiple sectors such as detergents, elastomers, candles, paints, rubber and tyres, personal care and cosmetics, which, through further processing specific to the target sector, produce the final products for the end-consumer.
