Green Oleo is an oleochemistry company that uses raw materials derived from food supply chain by-products. These are by-products that are no longer suitable for either human or animal consumption. Furthermore, the raw materials we use are locally sourced, forming an exceptionally short and highly sustainable supply chain.
Our procurement is characterized by a strong European focus: in 2025, the company maintained business relationships with a total of 68 raw material suppliers—38 based in Italy and 30 in the rest of Europe—with no suppliers headquartered outside the European continent. This reflects our short-supply-chain orientation and our commitment to maintaining supply relationships within a homogeneous geographical, regulatory, and cultural perimeter.
Ours is a cultural challenge. Elevating the by-product to the role of a raw material is part of a virtuous circular economy process, an area in which Green Oleo has been engaged for years. Our goal is to promote a culture of sustainable economy, reducing resource waste and generating new value through the creation of sustainable products. With the objective of supporting transparent supply chains, the company has obtained ISCC+ certification for all its main oleochemical product streams.

ANIMAL-BASED
RAW MATERIALS
The animal fat (tallow) used in Green Oleo’s processing falls strictly into Category III, as defined by the Ministry of Health: a byproduct with negligible or zero associated risk, in that it is a byproduct derived from edible sources that cannot be used for the food market.

SQUALENE
Green Oleo uses raw materials that contain squalene, a product with emollient and antioxidant properties that is used to produce high-end cosmetics (e.g. suncreams and lotions) and make-up (foundation, lipstick, etc.).
Green Oleo predominantly uses squalene derived from plant sources, such as olive oil, amaranth oil, argan oil and sunflower oil, and is currently fine-tuning a process capable of increasing the concentration of the compound in our products.
