A start-up with 100 years of experience: drawing on the past to imagine and put into practice what we want to be in future.
Our history began in 1923 with the founding of Stabilimenti Chimici Mazzini, a pioneering company deeply rooted in the local economic fabric of Cremona, in Northern Italy. Since our origins, we have harnessed the great agri-food potential of our region, building a production model centered on short-supply-chain by-products—a core identity that we still preserve today, skillfully integrated by global import channels. After over a century of industrial and corporate evolution, our journey reached a decisive turning point in 2012, when the Buzzella family acquired the company, giving rise to Green Oleo, the name we proudly bear today.
Our path of growth and responsibility continues to mark new milestones: in 2023, Green Oleo was listed on the Euronext Growth Milan market, and in 2024 we officially became a Benefit Corporation, cementing our concrete commitment to generating a positive impact on society and the environment. Today, building on this rich heritage, Green Oleo ranks among the leading oleochemical producers in Europe.
Our production model is based on raw materials primarily derived from food processing by-products no longer suitable for human consumption, such as acid oils—mainly derived from olive oil—and animal fats.
Our Mission
Our mission is to be market leaders for products made from renewable sources (olive oil, in particular) and to meet the needs of even the most demanding markets.
Our Headquarters
Green Oleo has its registered office and production plant in Cremona, Via Bergamo 66. The Green Oleo production facility spans an area of 64,000m2, 20,000 of which are covered. It currently employs a staff of over 70 workers. The facility holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001 e ISO 45001 certifications.
Our Story
Established in 1925 to meet the needs of the local agricultural market, Green Oleo now has a great legacy of company culture: nearly a century of history which we hold very dear to our hearts. And to us, perhaps the most special part of it is observing how our story is still constantly evolving. A past that we can draw on to imagine and put into practice what we want to be in future. It should come as no surprise, then, that we love to define ourselves as a start-up with more than 100 years of experience in the production of fatty acids and glycerine.
In 2012, Green Oleo was taken over by the Buzzella family. With over 60 years of experience in the chemical industry (including over a decade in oleochemicals), in the space of just over ten years they have brought their expertise, innovation and sustainability to fuel the growth of Green Oleo.
